The new sci-fi show from the Wachowskis and JMS looks epic…
When Netflix does sci-fi, it certainly doesn’t scrimp. Sense8 is a 10-episode series being produced right now that boasts Andy and Lana Wachowski and J Michael Straczynski as its creatives – now that’s talent. Meanwhile, its filming locations are scattered all across the world (including Iceland, Mumbai, Nairobi and Mexico City) and its superb cast line-up includes Daryl Hannah, Lost’s Naveen Andrews, Stargate Universe’s Brian J Smith and former Doctor Who companion Freema Agyeman.
“The series follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally,” JMS told Deadline. “They can not only see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, they have access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must they figure out what happened and why, and what it means for the future of humanity, they must do so while being hunted by an organisation out to capture, kill or vivisect them.”
Sounds good to us. Sense8 is due to stream on Netflix towards the end of this year or early in 2015.
