The Fantastic Four reboot movie announces its final cast member…
Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot has been a long time coming and at last the studio has put the finishing touches to its principal cast. In a coup for the UK, British actor Toby Kebbell has been picked to play the Fantastic Four’s arch nemesis Victor von Doom – aka Doctor Doom.
He joins a cast that includes fellow Brit Jamie Bell as Benjamin Grimm/The Thing; along with Michael B Jordan as Johnny Storm/Human Torch; Kate Mara as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman; and Divergent actor Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic.
Even if you don’t recognise Kebbell’s name, you’ll know his work. Breaking out in Shane Meadows’ excellent thriller Dead Man’s Shoes in 2004, he has played lead roles in Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla and music biopic Control, as well as appearing in several blockbusters such as Prince Of Persia, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Wrath Of The Titans. His next role in cinemas is in this summer’s Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
Some fans have complained about the young age of the cast. However, it’s believed that the film will be based on the Marvel comic The Ultimate fantastic Four, which features a younger version of the superteam.
Filming is set to begin in a matter of weeks, with Chronicle’s Josh Tank directing, and the movie is set for release in the UK on 19 June 2015. A second instalment is due in summer 2017.
