After significant delays, it looks as if the latest film adaptation of the Japanese story about the forty-seven Ronin will be released in America this Christmas, and Boxing Day in the UK.
Starring Keanu Reeves, the story centres around 47 samaurai who seek vengeance against the warlords who killed their masters and banished them from their homes. In order to enact their vengeance, they seek the help of Kai (Reeves) – a half-breed they once rejected – as they fight their way across a savage landscape filled with mythical beast, witches and formidable terrors.
Directed by Carl Rinsch (The Gift), 47 Ronin also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Ko Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi. The film was written by Chris Morgan and Hossein Amin.
