A new alien sci-fi series Defiance will be released on Syfy on 16 April. The series is set on Earth in 2046, but the arrival of multiple alien species over the last 30 years has drastically changed Earth’s landscape, now irreparably altered by terraforming. The town of Defiance, previously St. Louis, has fought hard for the little peace it now maintains, but when a man called Nolan and his charge, Irisa, arrive in the town events begin to unfold that could threaten the town’s fragile peace. 

The series was created by Rockne S. O’Bannon, who also created the cult sci-fi series Farscape. The show also has tie-in MMO online shooter game, which allows players to explore a changed Earth as they search for alien technology. The game is available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 2 April.
