The 13th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine is announcing that Ken Wakui’s Shinjuku Swan manga has been green-lit for a live-action film adaptation.

The manga follows Tatsuhiko Shiratori, an unemployed and broke 19-year-old living in the Kabukicho red-light district of Tokyo’s Shinjuku ward. Tatsuhiko finally gets a job when a man called Mako recruits him to be a scout, and find new talent for clubs, adult videos, and other areas of Kabukicho’s night life. Tatsuhiko then becomes part of the cut-throat business of Tokyo’s underworld.

The manga was launched in 2005, and the 35th volume will be released by Kodansha next month. A six-episode live-action television series was previous released in 2007.
