Nintendo Legend Shigeru Miyamoto Turns 60

Today videogame designer and producer Shigeru Miyamoto turned 60; he was born on 16 November, 1952 in Kyoto, Japan. Miyamoto originally wanted to be a manga artist, but he discovered his love of videogames after a few turns on the 1978 arcade game Space Invaders

Miyamoto joined Nintendo in 1977, and has since been responsible for the company’s most successful franchises, including Mario, Donkey Kong, Legend of ZeldaStar Fox and Pikmin. Miyamoto is currently working on games for the 3DS and the new Wii U console, which will be available on 30 November (UK).
