If you thought Ricky Gervais would never host the Golden Globes again, prepare for a shock: the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has announced that he will return to the show in January 2012.

Gervais’ third stint as Globes host was officially announced over Twitter today.

“Not everyone is happy with the decision” admitted the HFPA on its website, adding: “His blunt one-liners targeting big-name celebrities caused anger and resentment in some quarters.”

“I’m telling you now If you don’t like it… Fuck you! If you do like it.. Love you!” Gervais tweeted in response to the announcement.

He also posted a video clip of his opening monologue from 2011, promising “This times 10.”

The 69th edition of the Golden Globe Awards will be held on 15 January 2012 in Beverly Hills, California.
