Can’t make it to the Cannes Film Festival? If you’re in the UK you can bring the Croisette into your living room thanks to Virgin Media’s coverage…

Among those sunning themselves at the 64th edition of the Cannes Film Festival are president of festival, Robert de Niro, as well as directors Gus Van Sant and Pedro Almodovar, plus legendary filmmaker Terrence Malick (Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line) with his film The Tree Of Life starring Sean Penn and Brad Pitt.

Out-of-competition premières include Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Jodie Foster’s The Beaver with Mel Gibson, Sarkozy biopic The Conquest and Woody Allen’s Midnight In Paris. Meanwhile, the UK will be represented by Lynne Ramsay and her highly anticipated We Need to Talk About Kevin starring Tilda Swinton.

The details in bite-sized, crouton-like chunks are:
* Coverage will run on Cinemoi on channel 445 from 11-22 May 2011.
* Jonathan Ross, who joined Cinémoi earlier this year as a presenter and shareholder, is hosting.
* The coverage will air every other night throughout the festival at 8.30pm, with 4 repeats following the first showing.

Julien Planté, Cinémoi’s Artistic Director, said, “This will be the third time that Cinémoi has covered Cannes and our seven 26-minute shows remain the only comprehensive coverage of the festival in the UK. With a crew of 14 people, this year will be extra special with a high standard of production.’’

To get people in the spirit of the festival, there will be a free-to-air weekend on Cinémoi (Friday 13 May until Sunday 15 May) featuring three days of the best films to hit Cannes. Plus, Virgin will also be featuring some exclusive content on its website.

Virgin Media TV customers wanting to follow the full programme can add Cinémoi for £6.99, with the channel promising exclusive UK premières of French cinema with up to 20 new films a month.
