Brighton band British Sea Power has written and recorded a new soundtrack for the 1934 docu-fiction classic Man Of Aran and it’s being released in a two-disc package…

It’s a wonderful film,” enthuses guitarist Martin Noble about Man Of Aran, before coming over all Trinny and Susannah.

The images vary between huge drama and a brilliant kind of ridiculousness – check out the amazing foot-wide bobbled berets that the fishermen wear. It’s a great look, like a 1930s Irish version of Jack White or Kraftwerk.”

A re-scored Man Of Aran DVD (out on 4 May 2009) offers two audio versions, including a studio soundtrack or the Edinburgh Film Festival live performance.

Both DVD audio tracks are in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and 2.0 Stereo, while the soundtrack in 2.0 gets its own accompanying CD.
